Trotec Laser launches
TroWood Colour

TROTEC LASER has introduced TroWood Colour, a premium, pre-coloured MDF designed specifically for creative professionals and laser businesses seeking aesthetic, tactile alternatives to plastic and acrylics. Engineered for both CO2 and diode lasers, TroWood Colour delivers flawless engraving, smooth cutting, and unprecedented ease of use — making it ideal for product personalisation, signage, and décor applications.

TroWood Colour stands apart in the market by combining a perfectly flat, high-quality MDF core with an opaque, vivid lacquer coating on both sides. This new combination ensures precision cutting, clean engraving, and consistent colour intensity. The material’s lacquer is formulated to resist chipping, producing smooth, professional edges and crisp detail.

Available in six vibrant, on-trend colours, TroWood Color offers designers greater creative flexibility than traditional lacquered MDF, which is often limited to white and prone to damage. In contrast to colour-through plywood, TroWood Colour’s surface delivers unmatched flatness, stability, and bold, uniform colour.

While diode lasers often face challenges cutting through most acrylic colours, TroWood Colour is designed with a wood-based core that allows it to be cut easily and efficiently with a diode laser.

It has been rigorously tested to produce high-contrast, clean engraving results on both CO2 and diode systems. This opens new creative ties for users who previously avoided coloured acrylics due to poor laser compatibility. Its pre-applied lacquer finish eliminates the need for painting, drying, or masking, streamlining workflows and saving valuable production time. The smooth, durable coating also prevents engraving residue from embedding into the surface, so dust wipes away in seconds. Combined with a premium MDF core that resists chipping and ensures clean, precise edges, TroWood Colour offers both exceptional performance and a flawless finish straight from the laser.

As demand rises for warm, natural-looking materials that are ready to use straight from the supplier, TroWood Colour offers the perfect blend of tactile wood appeal and the efficiency of a pre-finished surface. Trotec is proud to be the first to introduce opaque lacquered MDF in vibrant colors, meticulously tested and proven for outstanding performance on both CO2 and diode laser systems. With uncompromising quality standards, a flawless surface, and a premium look and feel, TroWood Colour sets a new benchmark for laserable materials, according to the company.
